Pico Interactive tweeted on Wednesday that it would join the event at Hall 9, Stand B40, adding that it looked forward to seeing attendees, “interacting with partners and chatting about all things” related to Neo 3 Link, virtual reality, and gaming.
The ByteDance-owned XR firm announced sales of the Neo3 Link in May at the Laval Virtual Europe 2022 in France, where it debuted the novel headset with a price tag of £399.
Industry analysts and news reports have speculated the Neo3 Link will target Meta Quest 3 customers and fans, namely as the device has features rivalling its competitors, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 chipset, 120 Hz ultra-high refresh rates, six degrees-of-freedom (6DoF), and 2-in-1 switching for 4K ultra-high resolutions when linked to a PC, among others.
NeXR, a Berlin, German-based XR firm, also tweeted its excitement about Gamescom 2022, adding it would be a “place full of creativity and fun, but also a look at the future of the metaverse.”

The enterprise was one of many to sign up for the Metaverse Standards Forum, a massive organisation of more than 30 tech companies, individuals, and associations, including the XR Association, Meta Platforms, Epic Games, Adobe, and many others.
The firm, which specialises in motion capturing (mocap), VR, and avatar and world-building, will offer its expertise on interoperability and standards to the Forum as the industry aims to build the Metaverse.
Gerald Böse, President and Chief Executive of Koelnmesse, said the experience gained from virtual Gamescom events allowed coordinators to establish the current event as “a resounding success for all participants.”
“[We] are finally back in the exhibition halls and combining the physical on-site experience with digital offerings in the best possible way. Offerings like our shows, gamescom EPIX and the gamescom biz community are clear examples of how hybrid gamescom is this year”
Felix Falk, Managing Director of The German Games Industry Association, said the time was “finally here” after two years of virtual events, adding the event would remain a “global beacon” amid “challenging times” across the industry.
Gamescom 2022 will take place from 24 to 28 August and is the largest computer and video game event in the world as well as Europe’s largest gaming enterprise platform.
The huge celebration of the global video games industry will explore 50 years of gamemaking with tournaments, networking and upskilling opportunities, interviews, and interactive experiences.
