Everyone makes content on how to be rich. Look on YouTube, and you will find plenty of videos from people giving you advice on how to be rich.
But no one ever talks about how being rich isn’t all that it is cracked up to be.
Loneliness.
For one thing, if you are rich, very few are able to relate to you. Consider some investor who has $50 million invested in the stock market. Suppose that investor loses $10 million. Can that investor actually have practical conversations with people about what happened? That investor probably won’t have friends who can relate to that kind of problem.
Everyone wants to steal your stuff.
Every socialist politician wants to raise taxes on “the rich.” Most of the public, unfortunately, isn’t willing to defend you. You are alone. What makes things worse is that most rich people are not interested in even defending their right to earn as much as they can. So the government will say you need to pay more, and the problem is that very few will say, “Leave the rich alone!”
Criminals also will want to steal your stuff. If you’re poor and wear a cheap watch, you can walk around any community in America. Is that true if you’re wealthy and want to wear a Rolex watch? It is nice to have enough money to drive a Rolls Royce, but it also makes you a target. Thieves know that the person driving a Rolls Royce probably has quite a lot of money. And if you live in a mansion, it’s hard to downplay that. Mansions are an attractive target for thieves, especially in large cities where the police have been defunded.
People charge you more for the same stuff in wealthy areas.
There is a supermarket in Beverly Hills that literally charges three or four times what things cost in a normal supermarket. Why would people pay that kind of money? It’s simple. People pay a lot of money to be around other cool people. However, you are getting ripped off. Why should someone pay three or four times as much for the same item — just because they have more money? That kind of defeats the entire point of getting rich in the first place.
Let’s face it, rich people are kind of boring.
A lot of rich people want to talk about their new granite counter top or some other furnishing in their home. That’s kind of boring. And if you live in a gated community or just live in one of America’s more pricey zip codes, you probably will be spending time with a small number of people who tend to talk about relatively boring topics.
Rich people have bad taste.
Just because someone has a lot of money doesn’t mean they have to have good taste. Being rich just allows one to buy things that seem cool but might appear gaudy or risible in a few years.
Once you’re already rich, what is there to accomplish?
And finally, people like to have new objectives to reach. If you already achieved incredibly amazing financial objectives, what else is there left to accomplish? At a certain point, you will feel like you have accomplished everything you wanted to achieve and that might be frustrating.
