AMBERLab has just launched the first university-based blockchain research laboratory in the Philippines with a partnership with Binance.
The university will offer free courses in blockchain and crypto, including trading, metaverse, decentralized finance, and web3.
The General Manager for the Philippines of Binance, Kenneth Stern, said the company strongly believes that the crypto sector can greatly benefit Filipinos by providing financial inclusion via digitalization.
“78% of Filipinos remain unbanked, but crypto can help decrease that number as crypto asset holders will soon surpass the number of credit card holders in the country,” Stern stated.
This is part of the expansion plan of Binance to Asia and the EU. They have recently been given approval to operate in major countries such as Cyprus and the UK.
